Expert Tips to Enjoy Your Wedding Day

First of all, congrats to you on your engagement! I’m so excited for you!

As a Minnesota wedding photographer and filmmaker, I’ve been fortunate enough to capture many couples’ special days. I’ve seen firsthand that enjoying your wedding day is crucial for creating lasting memories.

That’s why I’ve compiled a list of my expert tips & tricks to help you enjoy your wedding and make the most of it!

So let’s get into it!

Prepare in Advance

The key to a stress-free wedding is thorough planning beforehand. While the wedding planning process can be overwhelming, enjoying your wedding day to the fullest is definitely worth it.

Start by setting your budget and prioritizing the most important aspects you want to focus on. That will help you select the most suitable venue and the vendors who truly speak to your wants and needs.

When you prepare in advance, you give yourselves plenty of time to make necessary arrangements and make sure everything runs as smoothly as possible.

I highly recommend the ladies of Northland Special Events for all your wedding & event planning needs!

I’ve also written another blog for you that goes through some of my favorite Duluth Wedding Venues at multiple budget ranges!

Create Realistic Timeline

This tip is a big one! When planning your wedding day schedule, it’s essential to make it realistic. Consider factors like travel time between venues, your wedding photo session, and the catering service.

Always allow for buffer time so you can relax and enjoy the moments without feeling rushed!

Feeling overwhelmed with where to begin in designing your timeline? Have no fear, I got you! I am an expert in all things timeline and when you book with me, I will help you out with building a timeline that works for you and your guests! I sometimes joke that I’m a hybrid photographer and planner, haha!

I’ve also written a blog post to help with this! You can read it here!

Expect the Unexpected

No wedding day is perfect, and that’s absolutely fine! Be prepared to go with the flow when unexpected situations come up.

Weather changes, late guests, or minor mishaps may happen, but don’t let them stop you from enjoying your wedding day. If you’ve hired a strong team of professional vendors, you might not even notice if things are not going exactly as planned!

Feel empowered to embrace the imperfections and remember that it’s the love between you and your partner that truly matters on your big day!

Choose Professional Vendors and Trust Them

In the previous point, I mentioned that hiring professional wedding vendors will really help you ease the stress on your wedding day. So I definitely recommend investing your time in selecting experienced and reputable wedding vendors for your wedding!

Once you’ve chosen them and told them your vision, trust their expertise to handle their responsibilities. That will allow you to enjoy your wedding day without worrying about every little detail.

Have a Good Attitude

Having a positive attitude can make all the difference on your wedding day. Keep your expectations in check and remember that even small hiccups can become beautiful memories and stories to tell later on!

Embrace the joy and excitement of the day!

Delegate Responsibilities

You don’t have to do this alone! Hiring a wedding planner can help you manage everything and keep things as hands-off and stress-free for you as possible!

Alternatively, you can also delegate tasks to your wedding party members, family members, or friends to alleviate stress. Assign someone you trust to be your point person for any last-minute questions, so you can stay present and enjoy your wedding day. We sometimes call this person your personal attendant!

Prioritize Self-Care

In the days leading up to your wedding, ensure you get plenty of rest and practice some self-care. That will allow you to look and feel your best on your wedding day!

On the day itself, make sure to grab some breakfast and stay hydrated! It’s going to be a busy day and you need all the energy and nutrition to help you make it to the wedding reception!

If at any point you need a break, a snack, or water, I got your back! Just say the word and I’ll take care of you!

Soak in the Moments with Your Partner

Your wedding day is the celebration of your love and commitment to each other. Take the time to savor the little moments with your partner!

In fact, in your wedding day timeline, I recommend allocating some time for you both to slip away, and just be present with each other. You won’t regret it!

Some of my personal favorite ways to be mindful on your wedding day include a first touch, a first look, private vow readings, post-ceremony meditation or prayer, or going for a walk/hike! (these also all make for beautiful moments to document through photography or video, wink wink!)

Focus on the Love

Lastly, keep your focus on the reason you’re celebrating - your love and commitment to one another. The details, decor, and other aspects of your wedding are important, but they should never overshadow the true essence of the day!

I encourage you to spend time with your partner, hug your loved ones, and go wild at your reception party! Just take it all in!
